Irish Wolfhounds
Irish Wolfhounds are gentle giants with a long history as sight hounds, bred to run with speed and strength. They’re calm, loyal dogs with an affectionate nature, making them wonderful companions for the right home.
Because of their size and need for space, they do best in homes with room to stretch their legs and plenty of time spent with their people. Though they’re not suited as guard dogs, they are deeply loving and form strong bonds with their families.
As puppies, they grow quickly and can be a bit clumsy, so they need care and patience while they mature. Like most giant breeds, their lifespan is shorter than many dogs, averaging 6–8 years. In that time, however, they give more love and companionship than most could hope for in a lifetime.
